History Games

Patronized by the French Federation of the history games, a special tournament of napoleonic games will take place on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of June at the harbor station of Ajaccio.

What the History Game is ?

Related to the games of chess or of Go, more known under the English name of Wargames and German name of Kriegspiels, the history games, that are also called simulation games or "jeux de guerre", are reconstructions of fights, battles or campaigns on cards , grounds or on computer medium according to the scale that is given by the players at the start.
These parlor games where the chance intervenes to give more initiative to the players; take up again every themes and times from the Antiquity to the naval battles of world war one or to the modern air-battles.
Some, very appreciated, borrow from the register of the science fiction or of the fantastic.

A pawn or a figurine will thus represent a group of characteristics as realistic as possible of the unit or of the combatant to represent : ability to move, potential of attack and of defense, spirits points variable according to the troop which index itself to the general tables of fight in case of confrontation.

In fact, the art of the history game consists in a simulation, in a specific historical and geographical setting with the help of a group of pre-defined rules, of a fight whose way out can be led according to one's inspiration and one's talent.


Live again the Napoleonic campaigns

On the occasion of the First Napoleonic Days of Ajaccio and on the initiative of "A Bandera", the "Societe d'Histoire Corse Mediterranee", demonstrations and competitions of history games will re-create, under the aegis of specialists and enthusiasts, the Empire campaigns and battles. Several hundreds of figurines, infantrymen, cavalrymen, artillerymen; are in confrontation on reconstructed grounds on table, or practise games on cards or computer.

It will be possible to admire these spectacular and colored jousts but also to be part of them by initiating oneself into these games.
Who among us never has dream, new Napoleon, of changing the course of WATERLOO ...
and overwhelming, with or without GROUCHY, the English at the Mount St Jean ?
